  • FAQ

Q: Do I need experience or some minimum level of fitness?
A: No. Our workouts and exercises scale to any level. We've had everyone from grandmothers to obese people, and they've all been fine. You will too.
    Q. How do I start?
A: Come to an open house for a free beginner's class. Get a taste of CrossFit workouts and see if REF might be a good fit for you.
Q: The free WOD was great, how do I join as a member?
A: First you must complete our 6 session Foundations Workshop.
    Q. How much is Foundations?
    A: $170.
    Q. What does the Foundations cover?
A: Bodyweight exercises, Slow lifts: Squat, Deadlift and Press, Metabolic Conditioning (a.k.a. "MetCon"): "Cindy","Fran", Olympic Lifting: Clean, Jerk, Snatch, kettlebells, medicine balls and more.
Q: Why does Foundations cost so much?
A: We limit the class size, and each class is taught by a CrossFit certified coach. That means you get a lot of individual attention. A similar workshop covering similar material would cost you $300-$500 for one day and you would not get nearly the same attention. We spread it out over the course of 6 sessions so you can assimilate it better.
Q: I'm really fit and would like to skip the Foundation's Workshop, and come to the Workout of the Day (WOD) class, can I do that?
A: No. You must complete our Foundations Workshop, unless you:
  • Have a CrossFit Level I Certification
  • A coach willing to vouch at your previous affiliate
  • Willing to 'Test Out' and let our coaches assess your current level of conditioning and technical competency.
Q: But what if I'm really, really fit?
    A: See Above.
    Q. I just relocated to Pensacola, but I've been CrossFitting so long that I named my kids Grace and Michael. Can I please come to a WOD class?
    A: See Above.
    Q. I'm just visiting Pensacola, but I've been CrossFitting for so long that I kip in my sleep. Can I please come to a WOD class?
    A. We welcome CrossFitters from all over the world. Please give us some advance notice of your arrival and we will find a way to work with you. Also, please bring us a t-shirt from your affiliate.
    Q. Will CrossFit make me bulky?
    A. Go to this page and look at these women who are not bulky.
Q: Do you take credit cards?
    A: Yes.
    Q: Can I have a receipt?
    A: Yes.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: After you have successfully complete Foundations, you have a variety of session options designed to suit your needs. Check out our pricing page.
Q: Do you sell t-shirts and other stuff?
    A: You Bet!
    Q: Do you have showers?
A: Yes we do. We have a shower/changing room for men and one for women.
Q: Can I just come to REF and work out on my own?
A: No. We are more like a dojo than a typical commercial gym. We offer classes or one-on-one where people work out under trainer supervision, as it yields better, safer, and faster results than having people simply use the facility by themselves.
